Beautiful people everywhere, how have you been? As you can see, I’ve taken a long hiatus from blogging. A few reasons…server problems, moving, 3 teenagers (Terrible twos? HAHA, thanks for the laugh!), health problems…you get the picture.
Anyways, I’ve been missing the blogosphere and am happy to be back!
Short recap: My husband has been working in the green energy field for the past 4 years, and at the beginning of the year was offered a job as a green energy home inspector in (wait for it) Southern California. Leaving our home in Austin, Texas, was unexpected and difficult at first, but we have family here, a new job, and who gets tired of beautiful beaches, majestic mountains, towering redwoods and nearly perfect year-round weather?
Except for the extreme drought. And fires. And tsunami and earthquake threats. It’s always something, isn’t it?
We are praying for rain, rain rain, where it counts, to reverse the terrible drought California has been enduring for too long.
And there is hope! When we first moved to Austin in 2011, it was the worst drought in recorded history, and when we left 4 years later, we experienced the biggest flood in Texas history, which effectively filled up the lakes and ended the drought.
So yeah, hang in there, California, your big flood is coming!
In other news, our oldest has graduated from high school (whoo-hoo!), and is now studying green home energy reforms (following in his father’s footsteps) and working part time. The next 6 are all in their new schools and involved in sports, theatre and other programs. That leaves me at home with the 3 year old, who is a big fan of Montessori, cars, painting, cooking, jumping over the dog, practicing super hero poses in the mirror, and yes, X-box kinect games and Just Dance. He’s becoming quite the pro hip-hopper, if I may say so myself!
I’m learning about the ways and wonders of California, am trying to be more efficient in my use of time, gas (Seriously, Cali!), experimenting with recipes (spending and hour on a meal for 10?! Ain’t nobody got time fo dat!) and everything else (Did somebody say budget? schedules? *cough cough*).
I’m also spending my time getting healthy (ish/er), studying photography and graphic design, learning about natural remedies and beauty tricks, and writing about it on my personal blog. (Yes! Come visit me! No, I will not stop at just one post! Yes, I promise! I will fix all the stuff on the side! Stop yelling at me! ;-))
So, there you have it. My last year and new life in a nutshell.
Thanks for dropping by, I hope to see you here often!
Now, what can I make with chicken legs, green beans and cream cheese that will take less than 20 minutes and everyone will love? Hmmmm….
